[Sadie's cheeks are a bit pink when the camera comes on, but she is smiling, if a bit awkwardly. She clears her throat as she adjusts to make sure her full face is visible on the screen. Once satisfied, she gives a little wave.]

Hey there. I've never really done one of these video blog things... that's really more of Ronaldo's thing. Heh, I bet he'd sure have a lot to say if he were here. But, anyway, I guess this is how you're supposed to talk to people here so I guess I might as well give it a go!

So... my name's Sadie, I just got here, I'm from Beach City in Delmarva and I work at a place called the Big Donut. Uh, my favorite show is Canine Court, I like Hayley Fleet and my favorite donut is Beantown creme. [She pauses for a moment, thinking about what to say next.] Oh! [She picks up the 'gear and turns the camera around to focus on munchlax, who is sitting propped up against her backpack, wearing a green breeder's headband and contentedly munching on an oran berry.] I guess I should introduce my little buddy here, too. I named him Herb, because he reminds me a little bit of my grandpa. He really likes those berries. [She turns the camera to face herself again, a significantly closer shot now that she's holding it.] Anyway, I guess that's about it. Nice to meet everyone! [Click.]

And what about his... [There's a pause, before she almost forces the next word out.] Friends? You don't have a problem with them, either?

[She doesn't care about the Crystal Gems. But they're Steven's friends. His "family". If this human claims to be Steven's friend but dislikes those closest to him... that's going to be complicated. ~~ONLY SHE CAN DO THAT, DAMNIT~~]

[Well that took a turn. She seems... oddly personally invested in this.]

Do you... know him?

[... Oh. Uh. Guess who didn't notice her little slip-up until just now?

Yep, she's busted. She could make up a lie, since really, it's not like there are a lot of Stevens her who claim they have magical powers... but what was the point? She doesn't need to hide from this human. So Lapis just lets out a sigh, running a hand through her hair.]

Yeah, I do. Steven's my best friend.

[In a way, it kind of makes sense. If recent events were somehow connected to Steven and his family (which weird events generally were), it stood to reason that there would be others here who knew them. Although that still left a lot of things unexplained. But in any case--]

Well then I guess it's nice to meet you. My name's Sadie. [Wait, no, she already said that.] I've never seen you around before. How did you meet Steven?

Sadie...

[Good. It's good that she's finally able to put a name to one of the few faces she can remember from the mirror that doesn't immediately invoke anger.]

I'm Lapis Lazuli. Steven... he saved me. From a mirror I was trapped in.

[Lapis Lazuli... freed from a mirror? This is ringing some bells.]

So you... you're the one who took the ocean that time.

[...Aha...]

... Yeah, that's me.

[She... doesn't look all that torn up about it. Just kind of awkward. It's not something she really wanted to do, but she had no other choice...]

What made you decide to steal the ocean?

[... That's it? No yelling? Geez, even someone who sort of knew her here was really freaked out about that bit of information...]

I was just trying to go home. It was the only thing I could think of that I could still do.

[Well, she did give it back. Especially after hearing Lapis' reasoning, Sadie is very sympathetic.]

So are you a crystal gem like Steven's family?

[You'll have to excuse her; she doesn't realize there's a difference between 'gems' and 'crystal gems.']

[In the blink of an eye, Lapis's expression drops from one of awkwardness to just. Total bitterness.]

No. I'm nothing like the Crystal Gems at all.

[Yikes! What just happened?] Wow I... I didn't mean to offend you.

Just know that those gems are very different from the gems who live on our homeworld.

[And after everything that she saw on Homeworld and everything that happened to her.... Lapis is starting to think that the Crystal Gems are the lesser of two evils now...]
